
Koyakatta is a rice based breakfast and it is very tasty and delicious. Rice is ground coarsely after soaking it overnight and then steamed. Coconut is another main ingredient put in this.
Coconut is a source of fiber, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It is healthy for bones, teeth , hair. It contains antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic healing properties.
INGREDIENTS
Boil Rice 2 tea cup
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Coconut 1/2 tea cup
Curry leaves
Red chilly (dry) 3 broken
Oil 1 tbsp
METHOD
Grind 2 cups of rice in 3 1/2 cups of water coarsely after soaking it overnight. Add salt and keep it aside. The batter consistency will be slightly thicker than dosa batter.
Heat oil in a Kadai add mustard , broken chilly and curry leaves. When the mustard splutters add the batter and on low heat continuously keep on stirring, till it becomes semi solid. Turn off the heat and add the grated coconut.
Immediately start making balls, do not press it hard or the balls will become hard. Transfer the balls to a Idli pan and keep it inside a pressure cooker and steam for 10 minutes or until done.
Tasty rice balls are ready. Serve it hot with red chilly and onion chutney.
