Sabudana or sago is also known as tapioca pearls. It is extracted from tapioca root, shaped in lump form roasted and dried. It keeps blood pressure under control, helps muscle growth, boosts energy levels and improves digestion. It contains carbohydrates and appreciable amount of vitamin c and calcium. Some popular dishes made from sabudana are bonda, khichdi, kheer, vada, upma and halwa.
This recipe is very yummy and easy to make. Very less ingredients are needed for this recipe. Ingredients used are milk, sabudana and sugar and for flavour cardamom is added.
INGREDIENTS
- Sabudana 1/4 tea cup
- Milk 1/4 litre
- Sugar 1/4 – 1/2 tea cup
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
METHOD
Rinse the sabudana pearls once in water. Add water and soak for half an hour. After half and hour drain the water.
Meanwhile keep the milk for boiling, once it boils, lower the flame, add sugar and sadbudana pearls and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally.
Turn off the heat and garnish with cardamom powder.
Sabudana kheer naturally thickens after it cools down.
Serve hot, warm or cold.
