Mangoes are seasonal fruit and are called king of fruits. During hot summer this delicious fruit gives relief from sweltering heat and has lot of health benefits too.
Mangoes are a low calorie fruit that is very high in fiber. It is a great source of Vitamins A and C. It also contains folate, iron, little calcium, vitamin E and B6. It improves eye sight, digestive health, immunity and lowers risk of certain cancers.
This recipe is simple to prepare as there is very less ingredients. During summer months mangoes are available in plenty and the sun helps in making aam pappad.
INGREDIENTS
- Mangoes pureed 2 cups
- Sugar 3/4 tea
- cup
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Ghee for greasing 2 tsp
METHOD
Wash and pat them dry, peel and remove the seed. Chop the flesh and blend in a blender into a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
Heat a deep non stick pan, add the mango puree , sugar , salt and lemon juice.
Keep on stirring the mixture on medium to low heat for 15-20 minutes.
The mixture will change its colour and will thicken.
Once it changes colour, add it into a greased plate. Spread it out. The thinner you spread the faster it will dry in the sun. It will dry in one day in peak summer. Or it will take 2-3 days to dry. Till it dries keep it out in the sun.
While drying in the sun, I covered the plate with a muslin cloth so that it’s safe from dust and birds. It took three days to dry.
Once it dries it will easily come out of the plate. Cut it in squares or any shape you desire. It’s ready to be eaten.
