Chicken is a source of lean, low fat protein and is full of vitamins and minerals. Chicken breasts are used in making soups, kebabs, stuffing and lot of other boneless chicken dishes.

Chicken is considered to be healthy and a lean meat because it has less saturated fat and calories than any other red meat. It is loaded with lot of protein, minerals and vitamins. The protein in chicken leads to muscle growth and development.

Satay is a popular Street food of Indonesia and popular in South East Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Chicken satay is the most common type of satay in Indonesia.These are grilled over charcoal or wood fire and served in a spicy combination of peanut or soy sauce.

SERVES : 2-3  PEOPLE

INGREDIENTS

FOR MARINATION

  • Chicken breast 1
  • Sweet soya sauce 2 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Brown sugar 2 tsp
  • Garlic- ginger paste 2 tsp
  • Seasame oil 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

OTHER INGREDIENTS

  • Honey 1 tbsp
  • Bamboo skewers 5
  • Sesame oil for basting 2 tbsp

METHOD

Cut the chicken breast into 5 long thin strips.

In a large bowl add soya sauce, ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt, sesame oil, brown sugar and chicken breasts cut into strips. Marinate for 3-4 hours or overnight.

Dip the bamboo skewers in water for an hour.

Thread each chicken strip into each bamboo skewers.

Take a flat iron tawa/ pan add two tbsp sesame oil, place the skewers on to the tawa.

On medium heat turn the skewers and cook on all sides. Add little by little left over marinade on to the skewers and cook too.

Once the chicken is cooked add honey on top, cook for a minute , it will give a glazed look. Turn off the heat.

Serve hot with spicy peanut sauce.
