To get the nutritional benefit of mushroom it has to be cooked. It’s a good source of calcium, fiber, selenium, protein, iron, vitamin C, vitamin Deficiency, potassium and phosphorus. It’s low in calories, helps in fighting cancer, boosts immune system and prevents heart disease.

Button mushroom is the most common variety of mushroom consumed all over the world. White button mushroom is sold as fresh mushroom or is canned and used for soups, sauces and other food product.

I had some fresh cream and a pack of mushrooms, was thinking what to do. Why not a creamy style curry using the fresh cream. Prepared a spicy onion tomato paste , sauteed, added masalas and at last added fresh cream. This can be a good accompaniment with Indian bread.

INGREDIENTS

  • Mushroom 200gm
  • Onion medium 1
  • Tomatoes medium 2
  • Green chilies 2-3
  • Coriander leaves
  • Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • Pepper powdered 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 3/4 tsp
  • Ginger paste 1 tsp
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Fresh cream 3-4 tbsp
  • Salt according to taste 1-2 tsp
  • Olive or any oil 1 tbsp

METHOD

Blend onion, green chillies and tomatoes to a smooth paste. Keep it aside.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add the onion tomato paste.

Stir it till it reduces on medium heat.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, salt, garlic and ginger paste. Stir it for a minute.


Add the chopped mushrooms and incorporate everything nicely.

Add a cup of water and mix well. Check for salt.

Cover and cook till mushrooms are cooked stirring in between. Add garam masala and cook for a minute.

Add fresh cream and stir it.

Once it comes to a boil turn off the heat.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with insian bread/ dosa / bread / rice.
