Modern pizza was invented in Italy and has become famous all over the world. Pizza is a flat bread topped with tomato sauce, cheese and toppings. It is baked in oven.

Base for pizza can be made at home or it is available in stores. Good yeast is required to make the pizza dough at home. Usually mozzarella cheese is used, but here I have used 3 variety of cheese. Mangoes  are in season so I have added them as toppings.

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE TOPPINGS

  • Ripe Mango cut in cubes            1 tbsp
  • Onion cut in squares                     1 tbsp
  • Capsicum Cut in small squares 1 tbsp
  • Sweet corn kernels                         1 tbsp
  • Oregano                                               2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh Pepper powdered                2 tsp
  • cheddar and mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese                              2 tsp

FOR THE SAUCE

  • Tomato 4 medium
  • Garlic 3-4 finely chopped
  • Olive oil 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

FOR THE DOUGH/BASE OF PIZZA

  • Maida                        1 cup
  • Yeast                         1 tsp
  • sugar                          1 tsp
  • warm water             1/4 tea cup
  • Milk                           1/4 tea cup
  • Olive oil                    1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Add 1 tsp  yeast in  1/4 cup of warm water with sugar cover and wait for 5 minutes. Add it in 1 cup maida/all purpose flour and knead it. Add salt , oil , milk ( add the milk as desired) and make a dough. Cover with a wet cloth and keep it aside .It will rise in three hours .

To make the sauce take a kadai/wok put little oil add the chopped garlic and fry for 2 minutes add the ground tomato(beat the tomatoes in a mixer). Cover it and cook till it becomes thick and there is no liquid left . Add salt.

Take a non stick tawa/pan and on low heat put some olive oil . Add onions, capsicum and sweet corn and fry for 5 minutes. Add salt and oregano. Keep it aside

Preheat the electric oven for 10 minutes. Take the dough and make a round disk ( 7 inches) like a roti,prick it with a fork.The base can be prepared thin or thick as desired. Put this in a greased tray and bake it in oven for 5 minutes.

Take it out add 1 tbsp olive oil on top of the base then spread the tomato sauce over it.

Cut the cheese in cubes  and put half of the cheese on to the tomato spread. add parmesan cheese and oregano pepper powder. Add the toppings and on top, again add the rest of the  cheese,oregano and ground pepper and bake it in the oven for 15 minutes at 180 deg C or till the cheese melts.

Yummy pizza is ready.

Note:

  • Preheat the oven for ten minutes.
  • To ferment yeast the water temperature should be 100 to 110 deg F or  37 to 43 deg C.
  • The pizza base can be made by hand or with the help of a rolling pin.
  • Grease the cooking tray and keep the pizza base.
  • The pizza base has to be kept for 5 minutes in a preheated oven on bake option and then take it out and add the tomato sauce. cheese and toppings. Keep it again in the oven  at 180 deg C for 15 -20 minutes.
  • Keep it the middle rack on toast option in the oven for 15 minutes , little more crispy 20 minutes.Keep a watch or the cheese will burn.
  • Adding 3 different cheese gives a good flavour to the pizza.
  •  Add Oregano, fresh pepper and salt in in a small pestle and mortar or blender and make a powder and add on top of the pizza.
  • I have used Maida  to make pizza base. Maida is finely milled, refined and bleached wheat flour.
