Raw mangoes are rich in Vitamin A and C, iron , calcium, magnesium. It contains an acid which helps ease digestion and controls constipation. It provides energy, prevents dehydration, good for heart and skin.

During summer in north a dish called aam ka panna is prepared, this quenches thirst and raw mangoes help in preventing dehydration too. I thought why not freeze it up and make popsicle.

This popsicles has lot of health benefits and are a refreshing treat too. This recipe is easy to prepare and all you need is simple ingredients for this healthy treat.

INGREDIENTS

  • Raw Mango large         2
  • Brown sugar 2-3 tbsp
  • Roasted cumin powder  1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder          1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida (hing)        1/4 tsp
  • Rock salt/ black salt according to taste

METHOD

Wash and boil mangoes in a pressure cooker with water for 3-4 whistles. Let them cool.

Peel, mash, remove the seed and blend and strain the mango pulp. Add a cup of water to the mango pulp.

Add cumin powder, crushed peppercorns, black salt, asafeotida and brown sugar to the mango pulp. Mix well.

Consistency should not be too thick or too thin so add water accordingly.

Pour it into kulfi or icecream molds and for better results freeze overnight.

Dip halfway for 5 seconds in warm water and demold.

Enjoy the popsicle during hot summer.
