Fruit custard is a sweet dish in which a custard sauce is prepared and is mixed with fruits. You can add dry fruits and nuts also. This is a very easy and simple dessert to prepare. It’s a healthy dessert as it contains calcium and protein.
Kids would love to eat the seasonal fruits as dessert. I remember my mom preparing custard way long back when we were kids. She used to add all seasonal fruits like apples, bananas, mangoes, grapes. I too prepare this custard with all seasonal fruit and with the same brand custard powder ( weikfield) my mom used to prepare with.
INGREDIENTS
- Custard powder 2 and 1 /2 tbsp
- Milk 250 ml
- Sugar 4 tbsp or to taste
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
- Apple 1
- Small banana 3
- Cherries 8
- strawberry 4
- Mango 1
METHOD
Add milk to a heavy bottomed vessel. Take out 1 /4 cup milk out and keep in a separate vessel. Heat rest of the milk in heavy bottomed vessel and let it come to.a boil.
Add sugar according to your taste. I have added 3 tbsp sugar. Keep the heat on low fire.
Add custard powder to the 1/ 4 cup milk and mix nicely. I use @weikfield custard powder.
Pour this slowly in the boiling milk continuously stirring. Remember to keep the heat on low. If the heat is high the custard will stick and burn at the bottom of the vessel.
Once it reaches almost boiling stage turn off heat. Let is cool down
Chop all the fruits in small pieces. I have removed the skin of all fruits and chopped.
Add this to the custard which has cooled down.
Remember not to add fruits in hot custard so wait till the custard cools down then start chopping the fruits and adding to the custard.
Add cardamom powder and give a good mix.
Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours and serve chilled in bowls or glasses top it with cherries and strawberries.
Enjoy your dessert during summertime.
