Walnuts have high amounts of anti oxidants that keep our immune system healthy. They contain high amount of fatty acids which helps in fighting inflammatory diseases like asthma , arthritis etc. It is good for skin and hair.
This is the first time I am preparing walnut cake. It has come out very soft and delicious.
INGREDIENTS
Maida (all purpose flour) 200 gm
Walnuts crushed 85 gm
Butter 85 gm
Castor sugar 225 gm
Egg 2 no.
Milk 75 ml
Salt a pinch
Baking powder 1 tsp
METHOD
Take Maida in a bowl add baking powder and sieve three times so that baking powder mixes well with maida. Keep it aside.
Separate egg white from yolk and beat them separately in a bowl. Keep it aside
In a bigger bowl add butter and sugar and beat it very well. Then add vanilla essence , little walnuts, little flour , little milk and beat it. Again add little flour, little milk , walnuts beat it , repeat till all the ingredients are mixed . When flour is being added do not beat the batter too much .
Add egg white and yolk , use a metal spoon to mix it well in the batter.
Meanwhile grease a tray with butter, add little 1/4 tsp flour and spread it all over the tray. Add the batter into it.
preheat oven and bake it at 180 deg C for 30 – 35 minutes.
Note:
- Beat Butter and sugar for at least 5 – 10 minutes. Starting on low speed then gradually increasing speed.
- Sieve baking powder and maida three times.
- Add little flour and little milk alternatively and beat at low speed, beginning and ending with flour to get a smooth and lighter batter.
- Large metal spoons are used to fold eggs into batter so that eggs do not deflate.
- Preheat 10 minutes before you place the batter.
- To test whether the cake has cooked or not just insert a knife, if it comes out clean that means cake is cooked.
