In this pizza recipe, detailed way I have explained in steps how to prepare pizza from scratch. You can make a perfect pizza by following the recipe at home. It’s super delicious and healthy too as I have added whole wheat flour and very little refined flour.

Modern pizza was invented in Italy and has become famous all over the world. Pizza is a flat bread topped with tomato sauce, cheese and toppings. It is baked in oven. Base for pizza can be made at home or it is available in stores. Good yeast is required to make the pizza dough at home. Mozzarella cheese is usually used to prepare pizza.

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE DOUGH

  • Maida 1/2 cup
  • Whole wheat flour 3/4 cup
  • Oregano 2 tsp
  • Chilli flakes 1 tsp
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds 1 tsp
  • Yeast 1 tsp
  • Warm water 1/2 cup
  • Olive oil 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Yogurt 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1-2 tsp

FOR TOMATO SAUCE

  • Tomatoes large 3
  • Garlic 5-6
  • Salt to taste

OTHER INGREDIENTS

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 1/2 -1 cup
  • Oregano seasoning 2 tsp
  • Chilli flakes 1-2 tsp
  • Onion 1
  • Capsicum 1
  • Olives 2 tbsp
  • Olive oil 1 tbsp

METHOD

FOR THE DOUGH PREPARATION

Add in a bowl warm water, yeast and sugar. Stir it, cover and keep till it froths.

In a large vessel add maida/refined flour, whole wheat flour, yeast, yogurt, salt, oregano seasoning, chilli flakes, carom seeds and garlic paste. Incorporate everything nicely. Add little by little water and knead it to a smooth dough. Knead for 10 minutes nicely. Add olive oil on top, cover and rest for 1 to 2 hrs or till it rises and doubles in size.

FOR TOMATO SAUCE PREPARATION

Blend the tomatoes in a blender to a fine paste.

Heat a deep frying pan add tomatoes, garlic and salt. Cook till it reduces to 1/3, turn off heat. Keep it aside.

FOR VEGETABLE PREPARATION

Chop the onion and capsicum to small square pieces. Heat an iron skillet, the skillet should be very hot. Add a tbsp oil and the chopped onion and capsicum. Sprinkle little salt and fry till onions become crispy(for 5 minutes), turn off heat. Sprinkle some oregano seasoning and mix well.

FOR PIZZA PREPARATION

Grease the baking tray with olive oil and keep the dough on it. Spread either with your hands or use a rolling pin to a circular shape.

Add the tomato sauce on top of the dough evenly, leaving little gap on the sides.

Add half of the grated cheese on top of tomato sauce, spread evenly.

Add the onions, capsicum and olives on top of the cheese, spread evenly.

Add the remaining cheese on top of the vegetables. Add oregano seasoning and chilli flakes. Add 2 tsp olive oil on top and sides of the dough.

Preheat oven for 10 minutes. Bake at convection mode for 15 minutes or till cheese melts on down rack.

Cut and serve hot.
