Chicken kebabs are easy to make with very less ingredients. The more one marinates, the kebabs gets coated nicely in the masalas and tastes better when it is cooked.
Cooking in an oven is very convenient but if you don’t have one ,can be cooked in a gas stove. It goes well with spicy green chutney.
Usually I marinate the chicken pieces overnight so that the ingredients are well mixed with the chicken pieces and the chicken kebabs are soft with lot of flavour and tastes delicious once it is cooked.
In the marination onion and capsicum are also added which are cut in square shapes. The chicken pieces are threaded with capsicum and onion alternatively in wooden skewers and cooked in tandoor or electric oven or on an iron tawa.
Chicken is considered to be healthy and a lean meat because it has less saturated fat and calories than any other red meat. It is loaded with lot of protein, minerals and vitamins. The protein in chicken leads to muscle growth and development.Chicken has phosphorus along with calcium which are good for bones.
It increases immunity, keeps heart healthy and good for growing children. It is an excellent source of zinc, iron and Vitamins B6, B12 and D.
INGREDIENTS
- Chicken breast 1
- Kashmiri chilli powder 1 tsp or as per taste
- Coriander powder 1 tsp
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Aamchur powder 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
- Ginger 1″
- Garlic 4-5
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
- Hung curd 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Capsicum 1
- Onion 1
METHOD
Cut the chicken breasts in cubes. Chop capsicum and onion in 2 inch squares. Make sure that capsicum, onion and chicken cubes are all of same size.
Add Kashmiri chillies, turmeric powder, garam masala, aamchur, ginger garlic paste, salt, lemon juice, coriander powder , hung curd in a large bowl. Mix all the ingredients nicely.
Marinade the chicken, capsicum and onion for 3 to 4 hours or overnight.
Place the wooden skewers in water for sometime, this is done so that it doesn’t burn during cooking.
Thread chicken, onion and capsicum alternatively in skewers.
Add a tbsp oil in an iron tawa and cook on low to medium heat ,turning and cooking on all sides till golden in colour.
Serve hot with any green chutney.
