Prawns are high in proteins which helps in body growth and development and low in fat and calories. Prawns are rich in selenium which helps in cell repair. It contains high levels of Vitamin B 12, which helps protect blood vessel walls and maintain cardiovascular health. Eating prawns helps build strong bones because they contain magnesium, phosphorous and copper.The omega 3 found in prawns help in reducing risk of heat attacks and lower blood pressure.
The recipe given below is simple, easy and delicious to prepare. Prawns are deep fried in a garlic pepper batter and mixed in hot garlic sauce.
INGREDIENTS
Prawns deshell,devein 10- 15 no.s
Refined oil for deep frying
FOR THE BATTER
Garlic minced 5-6 cloves
Pepper powder 1-2 tsp
Maida/refined flour 1/2 tea cup
Egg white 1 no.
Corn flour 1/4 tea cup
Salt to taste
FOR THE SAUCE
Tomato sauce 2 -3 tbsp
Worcestershire sauce 1 – 2 tbsp
Chilli flakes /powder 1 tsp
Garlic finely chopped 6-8 cloves
Oil 2 tsp
METHOD
Deshell, devein and clean prawn.
In a bowl mix maida, cornflour, salt, minced garlic, egg white, pepper powder and little water to make a batter. Add the prawns into it. Marinate for half an hour.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan and on medium heat fry the prawns on both sides till golden brown.
Drain the prawns in kitchen towel.
Heat 2 tsp oil in a wok/kadai add finely chopped garlic and saute till the raw smell disappears and garlic changes colour.Add chilli flakes/ chilli powder, tomato sauce and worcestershire sauce and mix it well in a bowl and add to the garlic and saute for few seconds on low heat. Add the prawns and mix it well till the sauce incorporates in the prawns. Turn the heat off.
Serve hot as appetiser/snack or with fried rice.
Note: vannamei or Whiteleg shrimp , size 12 grams is being used in this recipe.
