Garlic bread sticks are very popular and can be easily made at home. Eating out at dominos more than the pizza I enjoy eating garlic bread sticks , I am fascinated and addicted to it. When ever I am making pizza dough, I keep some for making garlic bread sticks too. When the dough rises , flatten it and add cheese, oregano seasoning, garlic. Fold it and add on top add the seasonings and bake it.
INGREDIENTS
- All purpose flour/maida 1 teacups
- Dry Yeast 1 tsp
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oregano seasoning 2 tbsp
- Mozzarella cheddar cheese 75 gm
- Garlic 4-5
- Olive oil 2 tbsp
METHOD
Take 1/2 teacup luke warm water add sugar and yeast, stir it. Cover and keep for ten minutes. After ten minutes the will become frothy.
In a large bowl add maida/ all purpose flour, the above Yeast mixture, salt 2 tsp oregano seasoning and make a dough. The consistency of the dough should be loose than chappathi/roti dough. Add 1tbsp olive oil knead the dough. Cover and keep in a warm place for 3-4 hours. The dough will rise and will become double the size.
In a mortar and pestle make a paste of garlic. Take a small bowl add the garlic paste, 1 tbsp olive oil, oregano seasoning and mix well.
Preheat the oven for ten minutes. Take a baking tray and grease with a tsp olive oil or keep a butter paper. Keep the dough on the baking tray, spread with your hand and flatten it to an inch thickness. Add grated cheese and a tsp of oregano. Fold in half. Seal the ends nicely.
Make slits on it. Add garlic- oregano seasoning on top with your hand or brush it.
Bake 5 minutes on lower rack on bake mode at 180 deg Celsius then bring to middle rack and change the option to toast mode and bake for 7-8 minutes or till it turns golden brown.
Serve hot with cheese dip.
Note:: to make oregano seasoning add oregano, salt and pepper and coarsely blend in a blender.
