Sesame seeds are rich in minerals and vitamins and one of the healthiest food in the word. They are antibacterial, antifungal, anti inflammatory and anti cancer. It is rich in fiber and iron.
Peanuts are rich in essential nutrients like fiber, protein, minerals, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and antioxidants.
This chikki is easy to make and is packed with lot of health benefits.
INGREDIENTS
- Peanuts 1 cup
- Sesame seeds 50 gm
- Flaxseed 50 gm
- Jaggery 1 cup
- Fennel seeds 1 tbsp
- Cardamom 6-7
METHOD
Heat a pan and on low fire dry roast the sesame seeds till you hear should of spluttering and a nice nutty aroma comes. Turn off the heat , take it out keep it aside.
Next roast the peanuts, it takes time ,you have to go on stirring so that they don’t blacken. Turn off the heat and keep it aside. Cool it and remove the skin. Or you can buy roasted peanuts.
Next add flaxseed and dry roast for two minutes. Take it out . Let it cool down. Put it in a blender and blend it into a fine powder.
Coarsely pound the fennel seeds and Coriander and set it aside.
Take a steel plate, grease it with ghee.
In a deep frying pan or kadai add 1/4 cup water and jaggery. When the Jaggery melts just pass it through a seive, to take out the stones or if the jaggery is of good quality no need to go through the process.
On low heat let Jaggery go on boiling, stir it continuously. Keep a small bowl of water next to the kadai. Add a drop of Jaggery syrup to the small bowl of water, if you put your hand into the water and can make it into a ball the jaggery has reached its right consistency.
Add the peanuts, powdered flaxseed, sesame seeds, fennel and cardamom and mix them well. Working quickly transfer it into the plate. You can use a rolling pin and flatten it.
Cut it into square shapes. Let it cool completely.
Serve it as an evening snack, enjoy!!!
